What’s the View?
Posted by bdynamics on May 25, 2011 in Burnside Dynamics, Goals | 0 commentsAs I took a walk the other day with friends, we were talking about the struggles of up-hill climbs in our personal and professional lives. Do you see where you want to go as having to reach the mountain top or are you already there? The funny thing was, at that moment we had just physically completed a walk up a small hill and we didn’t realize it. I had us all stop, turn around and look at the slope we effortlessly climbed and take notice of the beauty of where we were.
Part of the problem with setting goals and attempting to realize our dreams and aspirations is what if we actually get there. Then what? Do we slide down the other side? Do we have to take the descent to the next mountain? Or, do we walk the ridge and admire our accomplishments? So many people sabotage themselves because they are afraid of what’s on the other side. Changing our view to celebrate the pinnacle and build on the accomplishments of our past will help us to propel toward accomplishments.
If there is something you want in your life – see it, believe it, communicate it, and celebrate it. Thinking in terms of celebration and admiration will enhance the experience rather than looking at the dread of what now? Take the time and experience the view.
